I have always been drawn to the drama and quiet of the land and sea -  moody skies, changing water and those fleeting glimpses of light that can transform an ordinary view. I love the way a vast sky or distant horizon can make us feel tiny and, for a moment, push everything else from our minds.

I’m invariably the person lagging behind on a walk, trying to capture a cloud, a reflection or a particular colour in the water. My paintings begin with those captured moments, but what I really want to hold onto is the feeling of being there.
